Challenge

SIEMENS is undergoing one of the biggest transformation processes in the company's history. Managers are the key to shaping the change towards a successful future. A highly scalable global leadership program is designed to support them on this path - with impulses for the effective application of the learning content with their team in their business.

Our approach

Together with experts and managers from SIEMENS, we used a co-creative approach to develop a leadership program that is closely aligned with SIEMENS' strategic priorities. Our focus was on designing leadership practices that promote exchange between managers and encourage them to directly reflect on and try out new leadership behaviors in the context of the strategic priorities

Matthias Reuter

SVP Global Head of Siemens Leadership Excellence

"90% of all 22k Siemens leaders started the learning journey – on average every leader invested 7.4 hours and they dedicated overall more than 134,000 learning hours to their personal growth, creating impact on people and business. Behind the numbers are countless feedbacks and stories, showing the impact of what's possible when we face challenges with a Growth Mindset."

The result

We were able to support the SIEMENS Leadership Excellence team in setting up a global, digital leadership program for all SIEMENS managers. The program inspires and empowers leaders to speak with a common language about SIEMENS' strategic priorities in order to shape the transformation and navigate change together with their teams.

The content of the program is based on the four strategic priorities that form the common core of SIEMENS' transformation: Customer Impact, Technology with Purpose, Empowered People and Growth Mindset.
We have developed a mechanism that translates the strategic priorities into the daily business of managers through concrete tasks, reflection questions and inspiring challenges and ensures direct application in day-to-day management.

Key Insights

  • 90% of global managers participated individually or as a team, created a common understanding of SIEMENS' strategic priorities and reflected on their individual leadership behavior and their own business context.
  • Results through experiences: Triggers and challenges were used to directly try out new behaviors and question habitual patterns.

Methods

  • Development of the training in co-creative sprints
  • Development of a mechanism that translates SIEMENS' strategic priorities into daily business and activates discussion and experimentation through trigger impulses
  • Creation of specifications for the technical implementation
  • Development of the value proposition and name of the program

New Growth

Into effective action - instead of just consuming the core content of SIEMENS' four strategic priorities in training. We helped SIEMENS managers to put the content into their own context: What is currently important in my team, my business, in my transformation moment and how can I as a leader further develop myself, others and my business model?

In this way, we strengthened the participants' growth mindset and empowered them to actively shape change and the future of SIEMENS in their direct environment.
